ROLE: Designer / Design Lead

From Telenor to Yettel

Redesigning Yettel's Digital Fronts for a Brand New Era

In the wake of their rebranding from Telenor to Yettel, a Central European multinational telco company approached our agency with an exciting challenge. They needed a master design for their new mobile application and web sales flow, adaptable to the specific needs of all the countries they operate in. This two-in-one design project required a unified, yet flexible approach, and we were ready to dive in.

We also delivered a comprehensive Design System the same time, but that deserves it’s own story, check that out too!

Challenge

Yettel's digital presence required unification and optimization following a brand transition, necessitating a centralized design approach to accommodate varying market conditions and user needs across different countries.

Approach

We plan, design, test and iterate. We approached the project in an agile way with planned iteration rounds.

Project setup

We set up a team of researchers, designers, project managers in order to deliver quality product on time. Short deadline was a burden but with proper project planning we managed to reach each milestones on time.

The Foundation of Insightful Design

Our design journey started with a great amount of research by an avid research team: interviews, competitor analysis, and looking at the digital presence of Yettel through many lenses, –service, strategic, functional, and design. The deep dive unveiled insights into key service perception problems, proposed solutions that became foundational to our design decisions, so that they could be based on data and real impact. Thus, armed with endless spreadsheets and enormous charts, we had the insights to go ahead with confidence.

More Than Just Bills
and Top-Ups

According to the existing application, our redesign of the self-care mobile app was much more than a basic application. We have included a lot of new features in it to improve the experience of users by including such features as spending tracking, cross-sales options, and special offers.

Spending Tracking: Helping the user in keeping track of his/her expenses. Cross Sales Options: The facility of offering related products and services. Special Offers: Offering special discounts related to the user's needs.

Full Subscription Control: ability of subscribers for plan management, data, and minute add-ons; even multi-account management allows users to manage all accounts for the family.

Subscription Integrations: In this case, Deezer and Spotify.

Subscription Wizard: A feature to help users find the best plan according to their usage.

Helpfulness and life balance are basic pillars of the Yettel brand; that is why we included this value in each feature. The challenge was to provide a feeling of the personal assistant app, which is always ready to help users make the most of their subscriptions.

Sales Flow Design

Streamlined, User-Friendly, and Balanced

Next, redesign the web sales flow: balance business objectives with user happiness. Our brand new sales flow is to be used for guiding the users in finding the best subscription plan or device, bundling services, and adding extras like insurance or accessories. Here's what we covered:

Step-by-Step Flows: Light and easy to follow for the user.

Bundling Options: Ease of choosing subscription plans and devices.

Extra Services: The insurance provided, extra services, and accessories.

Zero-interest loans: When high-priced devices become more accessible due to affordable financing options.

Our sales flow was intuitively designed to make buying smooth and pleasurable; users would confidently walk through each step of the flows.

Based on a system

Yettel’s transition from Telenor couldn’t happen without a comprehensive design system, an another project I participated as a designer, later a design lead.
